Last December I told you about my trip to the Seena Magowitz charity golf tournament and what a great time we all had.
At the time I didn’t know it, but my involvement with this event (and the great cause it supports) was about to grow.
Roger Magowitz, the tournament founder, asked Karl Glassman, our COO at Leggett & Platt, if he would be the honorary Chairman for 2012. Karl had been to past events and has a heart for what they are doing so he was happy to help. Karl and his wife Cathi, along with my wife Bridget and I, hopped on a plane and went to Arizona to tour the TGen facilities and get a close-up look at what that group is doing to advance the fight against pancreatic cancer. What a trip! When you get into a room with the scientists working on the problem and then listen to Dr. Von Hoff, the world-renowned Director of TGen’s Clinical Translational Research Division, it is hard not to get excited about the progress they are making.
For the past 10 months we have been working hard with Roger’s team to plan an event that is bigger and better than anything they have done in the past — and believe me that isn’t easy to do!
On Friday, December 7th, you are going to enjoy Monte Carlo Night, where you can have a cocktail, catch up with old friends, eat great food, and GAMBLE for some excellent prizes. On the 8th you can golf, play tennis, or go on one of the many excursions. The event will finish with silent and live auctions and an awards lunch/update on what TGen has been up to for the past year.
I know that many of us travel a lot over the course of a year and that leaving the office and family isn’t always easy to do, but let me say this: people that have been to the Magowitz event keep coming back for a reason. If you have not made this trip, I promise you a memorable weekend and just know that you will leave feeling really great about how you spent those two days. I believe that we are all here to serve each other and we should make the most of our time on the planet together.
Pancreatic cancer is a nasty disease that needs some attention. We are just the right group to address it. Don’t waffle, just decide and click below and register.
Once you are signed up, call your buddies and put the hard sell on them to attend.
By the way, we are having an ugly golf pants contest, so the uglier the better chance you have at winning that top prize. Go big or go home. Here’s some inspiration.
Thanks to all of the past participants and to those of you giving it your serious consideration for this year. If you can’t attend you can always go to the website and give your gift.
Have you been to this event? If so, give us a review in the comments section below. See you there!

Mark, I could not agree more! Roger pours his heart and soul into the fight against pancreatic cancer and this tournament reflects that passion and drive. It’s a great opportunity to have fun and give back. See you there!
It was great meeting you in person Sunni and thanks for all you guys do to support the event at The Mattress Firm. Hope you have a great holiday!
Mark,
For those that haven’t attended the Seena Magowitz event…..please consider attending. I have attended 9 out of 10 years and it is an amazing event. Great attendance by everyone in the mattress and furniture industries.
Roger Magowitz has created, out of the loss of his mother, an incredible event that is fun, educational, and raises significant funds for finding the cure to pancreatic cancer.
Very excited to attend again this year! See you in the desert!
Thanks for the comment Barrie. I appreciate you being there AGAIN and for the interview you gave on camera which we will use to promote the event next year. Have a great holiday.
