It is time to start gearing up for one of my favorite events of the year – the Seena Magowitz Golf and Spa weekend. First I will be attending the Furniture Today Leadership conference in Florida to conduct some business and learn something new!
Ray Allegrezza always does a fine job putting that on. But as soon as it is over, we are heading west to the incredible Arizona Biltmore Resort for some golf and fellowship with friends.
It’s not that other industry events aren’t enjoyable, but this one is different. Special. You can ask just about anyone that goes how much fun it really is. The nice thing here is that there is no work agenda, unless you want to extend your network of industry contacts – the who’s who of our business will be there. The weekend is all about having a great time and raising money for a very worthy cause, which I will talk about in a minute.
We start off on Friday evening with a Roaring ‘20s Casino Night featuring some great live jazz music. There will be door prizes, including a giveaway from Leon Ellman and Ellman
Family Vineyards. If you want a chance to take home some of those grapes, this is the
place to be. Saturday starts out with a continental breakfast and the golf tournament featuring the ugly pants contest. If you are not a golfer, no worries – there are many other things to do, like a hike in the mountains or a special “day at the spa” package. After golf, there will be a lunch at which we crown the winners and hear some updates from the group at TGen on how things are progressing in finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. They have some great news to share.
So why go? Consider that an estimated 56,330 people will be diagnosed in 2013 with this terrible disease. Of that group, only 72% will survive past the first year and only 6% will make it past 5 years. Imagine what it would be like to hear that you or a loved one contracted this disease. We need to give them hope.
Please join Roger Magowitz and the good people from TGen as we celebrate some of the recent advancements in finding a cure and enjoy an incredible resort with some amazing people. My wife Bridget has to put up with me traveling a lot throughout the year, but for this trip she looks forward to coming with me. If you’re looking for an event to bring your significant other to, this is the one, so give that some thought.
Our theme this year is ONE MORE, so be thinking about bringing ONE MORE person with you to Arizona this year, stepping up your sponsorship ONE MORE level, or even making a gift with ONE MORE “zero” behind it – I know Roger would love you for that one!
Have you been to the event before? If so, what would you tell people about it? Share in the comments section!
