So maybe you can’t make the Statue of Liberty vanish or make a bunny appear out of a hat like I can. (What, you don’t believe me? See for yourself!) You can still make some magic happen on May 16 in Orlando, Florida, at the 12th Annual Seena Magowitz Golf Classic.
Normally this event takes place in Arizona during the first part of December, but Furniture Today and Roger Magowitz came together to connect it to the Furniture Today Bedding Conference, hosted by Dave Perry, on May 14. The Bedding Conference is a must attend if you are serious about making money in the mattress industry. If you have not been to these two events, this is the year to go.
The Magowitz event raises money to help find a cure for pancreatic cancer. This is a very nasty disease that will kill over 39,000 people this year with only a 6% survival rate for anyone past five years. The money we raise will go to the TGen organization and Dr. Daniel Von Hoff to support the incredible work they are doing. I have never in my life had the pleasure of working with a group that cares as much as they do for the people they are trying to save. If you want to put your money behind a winner, this is the place because they are making a real difference in the lives of so many.

So here’s the deal…the Bedding Conference ends on Friday around noon. You can take a golf lesson from David Leadbetter, put the pedal to the metal in the Richard Petty Driving Experience, or relax by the pool in a private cabana reserved for Magowitz attendees. That night Gary Fazio, CEO for Serta/Simmons and honorary chairman this year, will host the Fight for a Cure dinner and a great evening of entertainment featuring Ricky Nelson Remembered, Baillie & the Boys, and Alyssa Bonagura.
I have been fortunate to work on the planning committee for this event for the past few years alongside many others in our industry and there is no doubt that I am better for it. If you have not attended in the past, you are missing out – just ask anyone that has been. There is nothing like it in our industry. It will be an incredible experience, you will get a chance to socialize with your friends in the industry, and you will leave feeling great because of what your presence actually means to thousands suffering from this horrible disease.
Watch video from last year’s event
The guys at Sleep Train have won the ugly golf pants contest every year and it has been well deserved because they sport some really revolting attire. My team is ready to take them on, so I am formally calling them out. That’s right. You guys better bring it if you want to carry that trophy home for the third straight year because our uniforms are going to be so offensive there is a pretty good chance they will ask us to leave the golf course.
Are you ready for a fun weekend that will have a huge impact on people’s lives? Then sign up and I’ll see you there.
